Softball Splits at Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University softball team split a pair at game at Centenary College on Sunday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

 

In game one, Neumann went up 4-0 after two innings. Kim Kirkpatrick hit a two-run homerun in the second inning.

 

The Cyclones put five innings up in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-4 lead. Centenary added three more in the fifth and two in the sixth for the 10-4 win.

 

Brittany Campbell went 4-2 innings and took the loss. Carley Gustin pitched 1.1 innings.

 

In game two, Jacki Herrington hit a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Knights up 3-1. The Cyclones hit a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth, but Neumann held on for the 3-2 win.

 

Rachel Purpuro went all nine innings on the mound. She allowed two runs and struck out five.

 

Neumann is now 9-9 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Knights will host Immaculata on Tuesday in a CSAC doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
