LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team completed a weekend sweep of Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action by scores of 2-0 and 12-1.
The first game was a pitchers-dual as there were a total of five hits in the game. Kevin Flanigan had a single in the second inning and scored on a bases-loaded walk by Nick Martin. Mathieu Vallieres gave the Knights a 2-0 lead with a solo homerun in the fifth inning.
Russ Gilliam allowed just three hits and struck out nine in the complete game shutout.
In the second game, the Knights bats came alive as they pounded out 16 hits, including three homeruns. Bill Pace went 2-for-4, knocked in four runs on two homeruns and scored three.
The teams traded innings in the first inning. Pace hit his first two-run shot in the third inning and the Knights held a 5-1 lead after three.
Derrek Etsell hit a solo homerun in the fifth and Pace hit his second two-run long ball in the sixth inning. The Knights added three more runs in the seventh inning in the 12-1 finals.
JJ Sims started and went four innings to pick up the win. He struck out seven. Chris McIntyre, Adrian LaRowe and Mike Dicken all pitched an inning in the three-hit win.
Neumann is now 27-8 on the season and 10-5 in CSAC action. The Knights will complete the regular season next weekend in a three-game series with Immaculata.
