Softball Splits with Immaculata

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team split a pair of games with Immaculata University on Wednesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.


In game one, Immaculata got on the board in the third inning. Neumann scored two runs in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead.


Rachel Purpuro went the distance and struck out 11.


In game two, the Mighty Macs put four runs on the board in first inning. The Knights got two back in bottom of the first. Neumann tied the game at four with two runs in the third inning.


Immaculata score two runs in the fourth to take the lead back, 6-4. Jacki Herrington hit a solo shot in the fifth, but the Knights fell 6-5.


Brittany Campbell took the loss. She went 5.2 innings and struck out three. Carley Gustin went 1.1 innings.


Neumann is now 10-10 on the season and 4-2 in the conference. The Knights will host Cabrini on Friday in a CSAC doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
