ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team completed a weekend sweep of Centenary College with scores of 8-2 and 13-1 on Saturday afternoon.
In game one, The Knights put two runs on the board in the bottom of the first. With the score 3-2 NU, the Knights added five runs in the fifth inning to seal the win.
Matt Grossi had two RBI in the win. Mathieu Valliéres had three hits. Russ Gilliam pitched five innings for the win. He allowed just two runs on six hits and struck out 10. Brendan Melody went two innings and struck out three.
In game two, Neumann jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first and six in the second. Valliéres opened the scoring with a solo shot to right-center. Bill Pace had a two-run single followed but a Derrek Etsell two-run double in the second.
Ray Schmoltze pitched four innings and struck out five in the win. Sean Quigley, Josh Krautwald and Erik Klimoff all pitched an inning in the win.
Neumann (21-6, 5-4 CSAC) will travel to Haverford College on Wednesday afternoon for non-conference action beginning at 3:30 p.m.
