Baseball Drops 5-3 Decision to Giants

LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team fell to Keystone College, 5-3, in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs on Wednesday afternoon.

 

Mathieu Vallieres hit a two-run homerun for the Knights. Derrek Etsell knocked out a solo shot to account for the Knights runs. Erik Klimoff started the game and went 1.1 innings in the loss. He allowed four runs on six hits. Josh Krautwald went 6.2 innings in relief and allowed one run and struck out three.

 

Keystone scored a run in the first and three in the second for an early 4-0 lead.

 

Bobby Callan walked to start the top of the third. Vallieres then hit his two-run shot to right field for a 4-2 game. The Giants got one of the runs back in the bottom of the fourth for a 5-2 game.

 

Etsell hit his homerun in the sixth inning. The Knights could not get another run across the plate for the 5-3 final.

 

Neumann is now 28-11 overall. The Knights will face Gwynedd-Mercy game on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Boyertown in the first elimination game.
