CENTERVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball team has been selected as the No. 1 seed in the 2011 ECAC Division III South Baseball Championship.
The tournament is a six team field with quarterfinals on Saturday and the semifinals and Championship rounds on Sunday. Neumann will serve as host for all tournament games.
The action will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with a quarterfinal game featuring No. 3 La Roche College and No. 6 Penn State-Abington. The other quarterfinal game will begin at 1 p.m. with No. 4 Grove City College and No. 5 Medaille College. The winners of the quarterfinal game will move onto the semifinal games on Sunday.
The first seeded Knights will face the winner of the Grove City / Medaille game at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Penn State-Behrend will face the winner of the La Roche / Penn State Abington as the No. 2 seed at 12 p.m. The two semifinal winners will then face each other in the Championship game at 3 p.m.
Neumann is currently 28-12 on the season and was the No. 4 seed going into the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament. The Knights fell in the first round to eventual Champions Keystone College 5-3. In the double-elimination tournament, Neumann fell to Gwynedd-Mercy College 5-4 in a semifinal match-up.
This is the third straight appearance in the ECAC South Tournament for the Knights. Neumann was the runner-up last season to Wesley College.
