Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The men's soccer team defeated Philadelphia Biblical University 5-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play Tuesday afternoon. Lee Collins notched the game winner as Bob Mastrillo and Alex Lacko shared the shutout.

Philadelphia Biblical is a much improved team from a year ago. Certainly the score doesn't reflect the Crimson Tides quality, but that may be because Neumann was able to get a quick goal in the seventh minute of play. Lee Collins found himself “tickling the twine” for his first goal of the season.

Nathan Beideman played the ball across the field to an awaiting Collins. It took no time for Collins to zero-in on the goal dribbling then striking quickly, placing it low corner 20 yards out.

The Knights wouldn't strike again until the 28th minute. Beideman cut across the middle of the box connecting well on the ball. The slight deflection from the defender cost the keeper to change his momentum as the ball trickled into the net.

Michael Frei took little time for the Crimson Tide to get a breather. As he took the ball down the right sideline, he found Andrew Leissing waiting in the box. Leissing did a cute little turn to free himself, finding the lower right hand corner 10 yards from goal.

“This was a great effort by the boys and we did a great job converting on our opportunities. It was good to see us take care of the ball and it was even better not giving up any goal,” said Coach Sloan.

Leissing would have the goal of the day, as he beat a player from 40 yards out and then rip a shot leaving the keeper without warning to start off the second half. Andrew Miller put the cherry on top as he hit a well struck ball from top of the box to close out the scoring.

The Knights travel to Rosemont College on Thursday for a 4 pm start.
