NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced their weekly awards on Tuesday morning, and Neumann University student-athletes grabbed both awards for Men's Soccer.
Jordan Illian was named the Offensive Player of the Week while
Chase Dougherty picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors.
In a 2-0 conference week for the Knights, Illian scored two goals and added an assist. In the 2-0 win over Widener, Illian scored the first goal of the game and drew the assist on the insurance goal. The senior followed with a penalty kick goal to open the scoring in a 2-1 win at Eastern. This is the third Player of the Week selection of his career at Neumann.
Dougherty helped anchor the defense, playing all 180 minutes over the Knights' two games. The defense held Widener to seven shots, all off target and Dougherty also scored the second goal of the game. At Eastern, just four shots were allowed on net.
Neumann (8-3-1, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) will look to keep their three-game winning streak rolling as they visit Albright College. Tonight's kick-off from Reading is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
