Women's Basketball Late Push Fails

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Neumann University women's basketball team loses to Scranton University 62-56 Tuesday afternoon in a consolation match of the Days Inn Tournament at Gettysburg College.
 
The Knights clawed their way back as they were down by 15 points (40-55) with 8:59 remaining in the second half. Neumann went on a 12-4 run shrinking the lead to 7 points, 52 - 59 with 3:08 reamaining. The late moments would see the Knights draw no closer than six points.
 
"The girls showed spirit at the end of the game and I would like to build on that character and toughness", said Coach Farnese. "There have been certain games this season when we wouldn't be able to recover from a double digit deficit. It is important not to let the game get away from us at early stages of the game, but we are still learning".
 
Scranton University opened the game with a 7-0 run and built on it as the first half progressed. The Knights had another slow and low scoring first half, being down at the half 20-38.
 
Erica Marvel"ous" scored 21 points, in which five field goals were from long range (three pointer).Sami Borky filled up two egg cartons (12 each), one for points and the other for rebounds. Terriah Mosley sparked the Knights with eight points and five steals.

Sami Borky was the sole Knight to be named to the All Tournament team.
 
The19 turnovers in the game posed the greatest problems for the Knights, in addition to the 2-17 three point shots in the first half.
 
The Knights (4-7) will be back in action as they travel to Kings College January 7th for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
