LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Neumann University women's tennis team defeated Cairn University 9-0 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action and secured the third seed in the postseason.

The duo of Breanne Klar and Sarah Schroeder at first doubles and Cherie Allen and Heather Nicholson at third doubles all defeated their Highlander opponent 8-2. Finishing just behind them was Gabrielle Porcelli and Teresa Kozin with an 8-3 final at third doubles.

The Knights did not let down in singles action, taking all six fleets. Klar won first singles 6-1, 6-1. Schroeder took second singles 6-1, 6-0 while Porcelli won third singles 6-0, 6-0. At fourth singles, Kozin took her match 6-1, 6-0 as well. Allen battled in her first set and came away 7-5 before taking the match 6-3 in the second set. Nicholson wrapped up the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at sixth singles.

With the win, Neumann secures the third seed in the playoffs next weekend, the first appearance for the Knights since 2009.

“We are all more than excited for playoffs”, stated head coach Kayla Chamberlain. “It's the first time back since 2009 and we cannot wait to keep playing together.”

The Knights are 9-6 overall and finished conference action 8-2. Neumann will face Marywood, the two seed, in the semifinal next Friday. Times are still to-be-determined.
