ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's tennis team defeated Immaculata University 8-1 on Friday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up.
The Knights started the afternoon out strong, taking all three doubles matches. The duo of Cherie Allen and Heather Nicholson won third doubles 8-4. Teresa Kozin and Gabrielle Porcelli battled and took second doubles 8-6. Breanne Klar and Sarah Schroeder battled even more and came away with a 9-7 win.
Everyone worked hard in singles action as well. Klar took first singles 6-3, 6-1. Allen won fifth singles 6-2, 6-4 while Nicholson won sixth singles 6-1, 6-3. After the Knights had clinched the match, Porcelli took her match at third singles 8-1 and Schroder won second singles 6-0, 6-1.
“This was a great win,” said head coach Kayla Chamberlain. “We are pumped to be 5-2 in the conference and are looking forward to tomorrow's conference match.”
Neumann (6-6, 5-2 CSAC) stays in conference action tomorrow when it travels to Rosemont at 12:00 PM.
