Women 's Ice Hockey Close To Icing Playoffs With Win

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team beat Chatham University 7-1 in ECAC West action Saturday evening.

The Knights scored early, but not often striking at the 2:53 into the period in the most bizarre of situations. Ang Gilmour scored to the surprise of everyone as everyone set up as if there was a faceoff taking place. To the delight of the Neumann crowd a goal had transpired.

The second period was full of goals and it did happen early and often. Within a seven minute span, six goals had been scored. The first goal of the period came at the 18:25 mark and Diane Peters scored the goal scoring starting the frenzy. Following suit in scoring was Dru Austin, Nicole Alexopoulos, and Diane Peters scored short-handed for her second goal of the game. Chathan University would get their only tally of the game 5:46 into the period. Amanda Simpson (fr. Anaheim, Calif. / Anaheim Lady Ducks) finished the scoring in the period off a power play.

Dru Austin completed the scoring in the third period off the power play for her second goal of the game. Lynsey Nakamura had three assist as Edie Brenning dished out two assist.

Shannon Donnelly made 10 saves in the game. The Knights win tonight outshooting their opponent 44-11.

The Knights will finish the regular season game tomorrow against Chatham University honoring the seniors slated for a 3 p.m. start.
