Baseball Takes Two at Va. Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Neumann University baseball team swept a doubleheader at Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon. Game scores were 4-1 and 7-4.

 

Russ Gilliam went the distance in the first game, giving up just one run, unearned, on five hits while striking out nine. It is Gilliam's 17th career win, setting the career record. 

Neumann got on the board in the top of the first with two runs. The Knights then added two unearned runs in the top of the seventh en route to the 4-1 final.

 

In the second game, Matt Spillman went five innings, allowed four runs and struck out six to pick up the win. Erik Klimoff picked up the save. Matt Grossi had a double and an RBI. Kevin Flanigan had two RBI.

 

Neumann (4-3) will travel to Kean on Friday for non-conference action before heading south for spring break.
