Softball Bats Come Alive in Sweep

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team swept a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games against Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 20-1 and 14-0, both in five innings.

 

In game one, the Knights bats exploded for 14 runs in the first inning. Allie White hit two homeruns in the inning, a solo shot and a three-run homer. Clarissa Hayes had a three run homerun and Crystal Perlman hit a two-run single.

 

Hayes hit her second homerun in the third inning. Lauren Shuey hit a homerun in the fourth inning to help the offensive cause. Rachel Purpuro started the game and went 2.0 innings. Allyson Parris went 3.0 innings to pick up the win. She struck out three.

 

Neumann's bats did not quiet down in the second game as the Knights put six runs on the board in the first inning. Pearlman and Mariah Ripken each had two-run doubles. Hayes hit her third homerun of the afternoon, a three-run shot, in the second inning.

 

Sarah McGann started the game and went 2.0 innings. Carley Gustin got the win, going 3.0 innings and striking out three.

 

Neumann (6-8, 4-0 CSAC) will host Marywood next Saturday in conference action.
