Baseball Falls in the Ninth Inning

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped an 8-7 decision to Rowan University on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

 

The Knights held a 7-4 lead heading into the ninth inning, but the Profs plated four runs for the walk-off win.

 

Neumann scored four runs in the second inning. Joey Armata hit a two-run homerun and Daron Moore had a two-run double. The Knights added two more runs in the third inning to jump out to a 6-0 lead.

 

Rowan started to chip away at Neumann's lead with three runs in the fifth inning. Each team would plate a run in the eighth inning for a 7-4 game heading into the ninth inning.

 

The Profs first two batter in the ninth inning reached on walks. After a fly out, Rowan managed five straight hits to score four runs and win the game.

 

Frank Vitrano started the game and went 7+ innings. He struck out four. Mike Dicken pitched the out of the eighth inning. Erik Klimoff came in for the ninth inning and took the loss.

 

Neumann (16-6) will start the weekend series with Gwynedd-Mercy on Friday. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM in the CSAC contest.
