SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Marywood University 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.

Matthew Smith started the game and went 4.0 innings. Mike Dicken picked up the win, going 1.2 innings. He struck out three. Russ Gilliam had the save. He went 3.1 innings and struck out five.

Neumann scored a run in the top of the first inning as Derrek Etsell knocked in Buddy Elgin. Etsell knocked in Joey Armata in the third inning to retake the lead after Marywood tied the game in the second inning.

Will Flores scored an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning off a hit by Armata.

Neumann (20-9, 6-4 CSAC) will face Immaculata next weekend in CSAC action.
