RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team swept a pair of key games at Cabrini College on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Game scores were 3-2 and 6-4.
In game one, the Cavaliers took a 2-0 lead after three innings. The Knights tied the game at two with two runs in the fifth inning. Becca Reinhart (4-for-4) started the seventh inning with a double and would come around to score on a Crystal Perlman single. That would prove to be the game-winning run.
Jacki Herrington had her 100th career hit as she went 3-for-3 in the game. Sarah McGann started the game and went 5.0 innings. Rachel Purpuro picked up the win, going 2.0 innings.
Neumann put two runs on the board in the top of the first to start game two. Cabrini responded with three runs in the bottom half.
The Knights put together some hits, walks and took advantage of a Cavalier error to add three more runs in the top of the second inning for a 5-3 lead.
Reinhart's bat stayed hot in game two and she went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a solo homerun. Herrington's bat was also on fire, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Purpuro got her second win of the afternoon, going 7.0 innings and striking out six.
Neumann (11-13, 9-3 CSAC) will host Rosemont tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1:00 PM.
