ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team won their doubleheader against Rosemont College in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) 14-6, 17-0 (both in five inning), Saturday afternoon.
In game one, the Knights jumped out to a 10 run lead in the bottom of the first inning. The 10 runs were enough to hold off the Ravens, as they only scored six runs over the five innings.
The Knights were lead by Allie White (fr. Woolwich, N.J. / Kingsway) as she went 4-for-4 with three RBI, Megan Williams went 3-for-4 with three RBI, Nicole Zamudio went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Jacki Herrington went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Sarah McGann pitched three innings and Carley Gustin pitched two innings.
In the second game, the Knights pitched a shutout with Rachel Purpuro conceding four hits.
It only took the Knights four innings to bat in 17 runs on 16 hits.
Callie Emel had her 100th career hit as she went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the bottom of the second inning. Clarissa Hayes went 3-for-3 with three RBI. White and Crystal Perlman both hit a home run.
The Knights (13-13 overall, 11-3 CSAC) are back in action April 17 against Alvernia College (doubleheader), starting at 3 p.m.
