IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team split a doubleheader at Immaculata University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
Neumann took game one by a score of 7-0. The Knights opened with two runs in the top of the first inning. Neumann then put three unearned runs on the board in the third inning, including a two-run homerun by Derrek Etsell. Joey Armata hit a solo shot in the seventh inning.
Frank Vitrano pitched the complete game shutout for the win. He allowed four hits and struck out two.
In game two, the Knights once again put two runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Immaculata took advantage of some Neumann errors in the bottom of the first inning and plated seven runs. That would be enough for the Mighty Macs to hold on for the 8-3 win.
JJ Sims started the game. He went 3.0 innings and allowed seven runs, none earned, and struck out two in the loss. Jake Yarber, Mike Dicken and Erik Klimoff all pitched an inning.
Neumann (21-11, 7-6 CSAC) will host Marywood on Tuesday afternoon in a CSAC doubleheader. The game is slated to begin at 12:00 PM at Campbell's Field.
