Neumann Splits with Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team (20-14) split their games 8-4 and 4-2 in a non-conference matchup against cross town rivals Widener University, Wednesday afternoon.

 

In game one, Widener was up 8-0 after the first three innings. They had a two run homer and a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning.

 

The Pride didn't slow down in the third inning, as they drove in five runs to extend their lead to 8-0.

Neumann's Becca Reinhart went 3-for-4 and she produced a two run double, as the Knights put up three runs in the fourth inning.

 

Sarah McGann went three innings and Carley Gustin  pitched three scoreless innings.

 

In the second game, the Knights scored two unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning, which broke the 2-2 tie.

 

Kristin Beaty got the win going two innings in relief. Allyson Parris started the game going 4.1 innings. Rachel Purpuro went 0.2 innings.

 

The Knights scored four runs off of four hits.

 

The Knights face Cedar Crest at home for “Senior Day” on Friday at Sun Valley High School then finish the regular at Keystone on Saturday.
