Baseball Defeats PBU

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Philadelphia Biblical University, 18-1, on Friday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

 

The Knights jumped on the board with four runs in the first inning and didn't look back.

 

Derrek Etsell hit a two-run-single in the fourth inning as Neumann plated five runs. Tyler Drinkard had a two-run double in the fifth inning. Drinkard and Etsell each had three RBI in the game.

 

Neumann added five more runs in the eighth en route to the 18-1 win. Matt Grossi had three hits and scored two runs in the win. Bill Pace finished with two hits and three runs scored.

 

Scott Hammell started the game. He 2.1 innings and struck out three. Frank Vitrano picked up his second win of the season, going 3.2 innings and striking out five. Erik Klimoff got his 10th save of the season, going 3.0 innings and also striking out five.

 

Before the game, the Knights recognized its six seniors; Bobby Callan, Matthew Smith, Kevin Flanigan, Matt Grossi, Derrek Etsell and Scott Hammell.

 

Neumann (25-11, 10-6 CSAC) will face Philadelphia Biblical again tomorrow afternoon in a CSAC doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
