Knights Fly Past Falcons

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team swept a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contests over the Cedar Crest Falcons on Friday afternoon. Game scores were 10-2 and 9-1, both in five innings.


In game one, Megan Williams hit a solo homerun in the first inning to start the scoring. Jacki Herrington led the team with four RBI, a two-run homerun and a two-run double.

Williams then knocked in Lauren Hanson with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth for the 10-2 final score.

Rachel Purpuro went the distance for her 10th win of the season and struck out 10.

In the second game, Neumann scored three runs in the first, second and third inning for a 9-0 lead. Becca Reinhart and Williams each had three hits.

Sarah McGann pitched the complete game for her fifth win of the season and struck out six.

Before the game, Neumann honored its three seniors: Sarah McGann, Rachel Purpuro and Lauren Hanson.


Neumann (22-14, 17-3 CSAC) will travel to Keystone tomorrow afternoon to wrap-up its regular season.
