Baseball Fall To Giants in Doubleheader

LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team got stepped on by the No. 11 Keystone College Giants in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader 7-3, 5-4 Saturday afternoon.

In the first game, the Giants got a run in the first inning and the Knights grabbed a run in the fourth inning to tie the score at 1-1.

Keystone faced two outs with the first two batters, but then riddled off six runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-1 lead.

The Knights got a run each in the top of the sixth and seventh inning and fall to the Giants 7-3.

Tyler Drinkard went 1-2 brining in two runs. Buddy Elgin also went 1-2 in the first game.

Frank Vitrano lasted for 4.2 innings giving up seven hits and seven runs.

In the second game, the Knights gave up three runs in the first inning and one run in the third inning, as the Giants led 4-0 after three innings.

The Knights came back in the fourth inning to tie the game at 4-4.

The Giants needed all seven innings to put away the Knights, as they scored the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

JJ Sims pitched six innings and gave up seven hits for five runs, while recording the loss/

Kevin Flanigan went 1-2 for the Knights.

The Knights could not capitalize on the four errors that the Giants committed in the second game.

The Knights 19-9 overall, 5-4 in CSAC are back in action April 10 against Marywood University, first pitch slated for 3 p.m.
