BOYERTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball team lost 10-3 against Keystone College in the championship game of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships, Sunday afternoon.
Neumann gave up four first inning runs and Keystone never looked back to win the CSAC Championship. The Knights were only able to manufacture five hits for three runs, as opposed to the Giants 10 hits for 10 runs.
The Giants looked crisp and hassled JJ Sims on the mound with four first inning runs.
Keystone's Blaine O'Brien rescued the Giants with two Knights in scoring position. Marty Sessa grounded out with Dave Kalash and Anthony LaCava at second and third base.
The Giants lead off with a single to start the bottom of the second inning. The runner stole second and then third base. The ensuing batter hit a single to bring the runner in and lift the Giants to a 5-0 lead.
Bill Pace led off the third inning with a single to left field. Pace work his way around the bags and ask he rested at third base, Kevin Flanigan brought in Pace to a Knights run.
In the bottom of the fourth inning the Giants would tag on three more runs to take an 8-1 advantage and the bottom of the fifth they would add two more to lead 10-1.
The Knights pitchers consisted of JJ Sims, Kevin Joo, Erik Klimoff, Scott Hammell and Adrian LaRowe.
The game finished with all the Knights seniors getting time in the game, as the game finished 10-3 to the Keystone College.
Neumann awaits the possibility of NCAA at-large bid or an invitation to the ECAC tournament.
