RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann women's tennis team picked up an exciting 5-4 win at Cabrini College on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
The duo of Gabrielle Porcelli and Teresa Kozin picked up the first point of the afternoon with an 8-3 win at second doubles. Heather Nicholson and Cherie Allen had a hard fought battle at third doubles and came away with a 9-7 win.
Allen took her match at fifth singles with ease, 6-0, 6-1. Porcelli won 7-5, 6-4 at third singles for a key win. Sarah Schroeder would clinch the match for the Knights with a 7-5, 7-6 win at second singles.
“The girls played so well, with so much heart and optimism,” said head coach Kayla Chamberlain.
This is the first time since 2009 that Neumann has beaten Cabrini in women's tennis. The Knights (2-2, 2-1 CSAC) will take the momentum up to Baptist Bible tomorrow for conference action beginning at 1:00 PM at the Birchwood Tennis Club.
