ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Cairn University on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action, 87-52.
Five Knights hit double-figures in the win. Zach Thomas and Mark Blount each knocked down 15 points. TaVaune Griffin and Reggie Coleman had 12 points while Dom Gibson netted 10 points. Blount had four blocks and Griffin had three en route to the team's nine blocks. The Knights had 20 team assists, led by Benny Birch with four.
Midway through the first half, the teams were tied at 15 after back and forth action. The Knights then went on a 14-0 run over four minutes to take a 29-15 lead. Neumann used the momentum and continued to build its lead and held a 51-25 advantage leading into the locker rooms.
Neumann's biggest lead in the game was 39 points, and was hit a few times throughout the second half. The Knights kept the pressure on and cruised to the 87-52 win. Neumann out-rebounded Cairn 46-25 in the game.
The Knights win their third straight and improve to 7-9 overall and 6-3 in CSAC action. Neumann hosts Baptist Bible as part of a conference doubleheader with the women on Wednesday, January 23. The men are slated to tip-off around 8:00 PM.
