NEWPORT, R.I. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell 2-1 as it opened up the 2013-14 season at Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Simpson put the Knights up 1-0 in the second period with a shorthanded goal at the 13:06 mark. Meghan Power notched her first collegiate point with the assist.

Salve Regina answered with two goals in the third period for the come from behind win.

Justina Mayr made 20 saves in net.

Neumann (0-1) opens at home next weekend with two games against Saint Anselm. The puck drops on Friday at 7:30 PM and at 2:00 PM on Sunday.
