2/10/2013 5:59:00 PM

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team took another victory from ECAC West Chatham University 5-1, Sunday afternoon.

The Knights scored four first period goals from four different players to pace the Knights.

Shanelle Doucette opened the scoring just 1:09 into the first period. Megan Russelo scored five minutes later at 6:06. The Knights stayed red-hot as Edie Brenning  three minutes after Russelo's tally. Lyndsey Spatola completed the scoring in the first period and gave the Knights a 4-0 lead.

Amanda Simpson extended Neumann's lead to 5-0 at the 10:46 mark into the second period.

Chatham scored their only goal in the second period to minimize the damage, but the damage had already been done in the first period, by the Knights.

Shannon Donnelly made 14 saves for the Knights.

“I felt we played much better than yesterday, but still striving to play a complete game,” said Coach Handrahan. “I look forward to next week's match-up against No. 1 in the country Plattsburgh, but we do need to make sure that we're focused for all 60 minutes.”

The Knights (9-13-1, 6-8 ECAC West) will host No. 1 Plattsburgh Saturday, February 16 at 7 p.m. Neumann finish their regular season next weekend, as they currently sit in a tie for fifth place.
