GENEVA, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated Hobart College 2-0 on Saturday evening in an ECAC West semifinal contest.
The Knights scored two goals in the second period to come away with the win. Braely Torris was outstanding in net, making 43 saves in net en route to the shutout.
Scott Farrell broke the scoreless tie at the 7:06 mark of the second period on the power play. Steve Gervais drew the assist on the eventual game-winning goal.
Craig Cowie deflected a shot into the goal from Matt Mazzarolo at the point at the 14:56 mark of the second to put Neumann up 2-0. Chris Bournazos also had an assist on the goal.
That would be all Neumann needed to defeated Hobart and advance to the ECAC West Championship game for the third consecutive season.
Neumann went 1-for-4 on the man advantage. Hobart was 0-or-4, including ending the game on the power play. The Statesmen outshot the Knights 43-22.
Neumann is now 18-6-3 overall. The Knights will host Manhattanville next Saturday in the Championship game.
