UNION, N.J. – The Neumann University baseball team fell in extra innings, 2-1, to No. 10 Kean University on Friday afternoon.
Tyler Drinkard knocked in the Knights run with a single in the seventh inning. Will Flores scored the run and ended the game with two hits in the game.
Kean scored a run in the first inning to take the 1-0 lead. The Cougars scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning on a triple.
Matt Spillman started the game and went 6.2 innings. He allowed one run on five hits and struck out six. Erik Klimoff pitched 3.1 innings. Kristian Deluzio was on the mound in the 11th inning and took the loss.
The loss was Neumann's first this season as it is 4-1 overall. The Knights now travel south to Ft. Myers, Fla. for their annual spring break trip. First for Neumann will be a doubleheader with Alvernia on Sunday beginning at 4:00 PM.
