IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team picked up a 5-4 win at Immaculata University on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Bobby McCormick and Tyler Drinkard each had two hits in the game. Matt Spillman improved to 3-0 on the season, going 7.0 innings. He allowed four runs, one earned, on six hits and struck out six. Erik Klimoff got his second save of the season, going the final two innings.
Neumann got on the board first in the back and forth game when Drinkard knocked in McCormick in the first inning. Immaculata responded and capitalized on an error in the second inning to tie the game at one.
The Knights took advantage of an error in the fourth inning and Drinkard crossed the plate as Dave Kalash reached on the error. In the fifth, Will Flores led off with a triple and came around to score on a single by McCormick for a 3-1 lead.
The Mighty Macs again took advantage of a Knights error and plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at three. The teams then traded runs in the sixth and the score remained tie.
Matt Sheneman drew a walk to open the seventh inning and scored the eventual game-winner on a triple by Buddy Elgin.
Neumann (10-3, 1-0 CSAC) and Immaculata will meet again tomorrow for a doubleheader in Aston as the Knights open their new field and stadium.
