VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Neumann University softball team opened the 2013 season at the Virginia Beach Blast, hosted by Va. Wesleyan, on March 1 & 2.

Neumann fell in all four contests. On Friday, the Knights dropped a 9-0 decision to host Va. Wesleyan. Allyson Parris started the game and went 4.1 innings. Neumann then fell 3-0 to Shenandoah. Lauren Wilkie pitched a complete game and struck out five.

On Saturday, Courtney O'Connor hit her first collegiate homerun, on her first collegiate hit, but Neumann fell 9-2 to Rowan. Parris went 6.2 innings and struck out four. To wrap-up the weekend, the Knights fell 6-3 to Salisbury. Allie White and Callie Emel each hit a homerun. Wilkie went 6.0 innings.

Neumann will travel to Columbus, Ga. this coming weekend to compete in the NFCA Lead Off Classic.
