READING, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to Alvernia University on Tuesday afternoon.
In the first game, Allyson Parris pitched 7.0 innings, allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits.
Alvernia scored two runs in the first inning, both unearned. The Crusaders then added another run in the third inning. Jacki Herrington had an extra base hit for the Knights.
In the second game, Neumann jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, but could not hold onto the lead. Callie Emel hit a three-run homerun in the first. Danielle Grayson knocked in Allie White. Becca Reinhart scored as Herrington reached on an error.
Alvernia scored two runs in the second and three in the third to tie the game at five. The Crusaders then plated six runs in the fifth inning for the 11-5 lead.
Kristin Beaty started the game, going 2.1 innings and took the loss. Mariah Ripken pitched 1.2 innings and Grayson finished the final 2.0 innings.
Neumann (18-10) gets back into conference action tomorrow when it hosts Cabrini at 3 PM.
