HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Centenary College 14-4 on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Buddy Elgin went 4-for-5 with four runs scores and two RBI. Ryan Ficca was 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Matt Spillman went 8.1 innings for his sixth win on the season. He allowed four unearned runs and struck out six. Richard Llagas finished the game, going 0.2 innings.
Neumann started the game, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Bill Pace hit a two-run homerun. The Knights then placed six runs in the second inning to take an early 9-0 lead. Ryan Ficca had a two-RBI single in in the inning.
The Knights did not let up and added five more runs. The Cyclones scored their runs in the eighth and ninth inning, which will stay in the back of the Knights minds as they meet again tomorrow.
Neumann (21-9, 9-4 CSAC) and Centenary will face each other in a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch in Aston is at 12:00 PM.
