ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Marywood University 9-2 on Tuesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Matt Sheneman went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Russ Gilliam went 5.0 innings for the win. He allowed one unearned run on one hit and struck out two. Ted Fletcher went one inning. Jake Yarber pitched two and struck out four. Erik Klimoff pitched the ninth inning.

The Knights plated four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run shot by Sheneman. Bobby McCormick and Bill Pace hit back-to-back singles. Pace attempted to steal second base and was safe on an error by the shortstop. McCormick was watching and scored on the same play.

Neumann took advantage of more Pacer errors and scored four more runs in the third inning for an 8-0 lead. Marty Sessa hit a two-run single in the inning.

The Pacers would break the shutout with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and added another run in the sixth.

Dave Kalash hit a sacrifice fly to score Joey Armata in the eighth inning for the ninth run.

The Knights (14-4, 4-0 CSAC) will face Keystone in conference action this weekend.
