ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University took both games in a doubleheader with Centenary College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Game scores were 3-0 and 6-4.
Tyler Drinkard and Bill Pace each had two hits in the game.
Neumann scored all of its runs in the second inning. Matt Sheneman knocked in Drinkard with a double. Pace scored on a wild pitch. Dave Kalash scored on a double by Marty Sessa.
Russ Gilliam went 6.2 innings for his third win of the season. He allowed three hits and struck out four. Erik Klimoff got the save, getting the last out of the game.
In game two, Pace hit a two-run walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning for the 6-4 win in the back-and-forth game.
The Cyclones scored first in the first inning. Neumann came back and tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning as Ryan Ficca knocked in Sessa.
The teams then traded runs in the fourth inning. Kalash knocked in Sheneman and then scored on a single by Sessa. The Knights took a 4-3 lead after taking advantage of a Cyclone error. Pace reached on the error and came around to score on a Sheneman double.
Centenary tied the score in the top of the seventh on an wild pitch. In the bottom of the seventh, Drinkard was hit by a pitch to get on base. Pace then hit a two-run shot to left field for the win.
Klimoff picked up the win, going 0.2 innings in relief. Mike Dicken started the game and went 6.0 innings. He allowed three runs, one earned, and struck out five. Jake Yarber started the seventh inning and allowed one run.
Neumann (23-9, 11-4 CSAC) travels to Moravian on Tuesday afternoon for non-conference action beginning at 4 PM.
