Knights Softball Sweeps Mighty Macs

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team remains undefeated in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) with two wins over Immaculata University, Monday Afternoon. The game scores were 10-9 in10 innings in the first game and 8-0 in six innings for the second game.
 
In the first game, the Knights jumped out to an 8-4 lead. The Knights allowed two runs in the first inning, but they rallied for three runs in the second inning and five runs in the third inning. Crystal Perlman knocked in three runs in the second inning with bases loaded.
 
Allie White and Mariah Ripken drove in two runs in the third inning, while Becca Reinhart singled for an RBI.
 
The Mighty Macs made the game exciting when they scored two runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the score 8-8.
 
In the 10th inning, Immaculata scored a run, but stranded two runners with one out. Kristen Beaty got the second out on a strikeout and forced a fielder's choice for the third out.
 
Megan Williams clattered a shot to right field making her way to third base in the bottom of the 10th to tie the score 9-9.

Ripken secured the win on a sacrifice fly in which Williams tagged up and slid under the catcher as the throw arrived from right field. The crowd roared in delight, as the Knights clinched the No. 1 seed in the CSAC.
 
Lauren Wilkie went five innings as did Beaty with Beaty getting the win. Pearlman led the Knights going two for four and getting three RBI's.
 
In game two, Neumann kept the gravy train rolling, as they scored four runs in the first inning and drew singles in the second and third innings. The Knights scored two runs in the sixth inning to sweep both games. Allyson Parris pitched a shutout on six hits and four strikeouts.
 
Allie White went four for four with 1 RBI and Ripken went three for four with two RBI's.
 
The day concluded with the seniors Jacki Herrington, Mariah Ripken, Crystal Perlman and Callie Emel being honored for their tremendous service.
 
The Knights (24-12, 20-0 CSAC) host Widener University in non-conference action on Wednesday, April 24 at 3:30.
