BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team won a non-conference contest at Moravian College, 5-4, on Tuesday afternoon.
All but one run was scored in the second and third innings. Tyler Drinkard scored the first run on a single by Dave Kalash in the top of the second.
The Greyhounds scored three runs in the bottom of the second. The Knights answered with three runs in the top of the third for a 4-3 score. Buddy Elgin hit a two-run single to score Marty Sessa and Will Flores. Elgin came around to score on a double by Drinkard. Moravian tied the game with a single run in the bottom of the third.
In the seventh inning, Sessa led off the inning getting hit by a pitch. He came around to score on a Greyhound error for a 5-4 lead. Neumann pitching sent Moravian down in order in the final three innings for the one-run win.
Ted Fletcher started the game and went 1.0+ innings. Kevin Joo went 7.1 innings in relief for the win. He allowed one run on one hit and struck out nine. Erik Klimoff got the final two outs for the save.
Neumann (24-9) will face Gwynedd-Mercy this weekend in the final conference series of the regular season. First pitch on Friday is at 3:00 PM at the Griffins.
