SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team split a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games at Marywood University on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. Neumann won the first game 6-1. Marywood won game two 3-2.
Danielle Grayson knocked in Allie White for the first run in the first game. Marywood tied the game in the bottom of the first.
Grayson then knocked in Becca Reinhart in the third inning for a 2-1 Knights lead. White hit a two-run double in the sixth inning as Neumann scored three runs for a 5-1 lead. Neumann added an insurance run in the seventh inning and came away with the 6-1 win.
Lauren Wilkie went 7.0 innings, allowing the one run on five hits for the win.
In game two, the Pacers took a 2-0 lead on two unearned runs after three innings. Megan Williams and Mariah Ripken hit back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth inning to tie the game at two. The Pacers scored one run in the bottom of the fifth and that held up to be the game-winner.
Allyson Parris went 6.0 innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits. The loss was the first one in conference play for the Knights.
Neumann (25-14, 21-1 CSAC) will be the No. 1 seed in the CSAC playoffs and will host the Championship Tournament beginning next Friday. The Knights will play their first game at 12:00 PM, opponent to-be-determined.
