Softball's Hot Bats Fly over Defenders

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team took a pair of contests at Baptist Bible College on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Game scores were 15-0 and 24-6.

 

In the first game, Lauren Wilkie allowed just two hits and struck out seven in 5.0 innings. Allie White went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Mariah Ripken scored three runs after being walked three times.

 

Neumann scored three runs in each of the first three innings. The Knights then plated six runs in the fifth inning, four being unearned, for a 15-0 lead.

 

In game two, the Knights exploded for 13 runs in the second inning en route to the 24-6 final. Callie Emel had three hits and knocked in seven runs. Becca Reinhart, Ripken and White each knocked in three runs. With an RBI single in the fourth inning, Ripken reached 100 career hits.

 

Emel started the scoring with a three run homerun in the first inning. Baptist Bible took a 4-3 lead with four runs in the bottom of the first. It was then that the Knights 17 batters to the plate in the top of the second and scored 13 runs. White hit a three-run double and Emel had two two-run doubles.

 

Allyson Parris went 5.0 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and struck out seven.

 

Neumann (14-8) hosts Cairn University tomorrow for a CSAC doubleheader beginning at 1 PM.
