Softball Takes Two from Highlanders

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team remained perfect in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action with a sweep of Cairn University on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 19-2 and 14-0, both in five innings.

 

In game one, Allie White went 4-for-4 with three RBI, four runs scored and two homeruns. Mariah Ripken was 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Becca Reinhart had three hits, a single, double and triple. Danielle Grayson knocked in four runs.

 

The Highlanders started the game with a run in the top of the first inning. White answered with her first homerun to lead off the bottom of the first. Reinhart then tripled and scored on a single by Grayson. White hit her second homerun in the second inning for a 3-1 Knights lead.

 

Neumann then exploded for 14 runs in the third inning, highlighted by a bases clearing triple by Grayson. The Knights added two more runs in the fourth inning for the 19-2 final.

 

Lauren Wilkie pitched the complete game, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out 10.

 

The Knights bats stayed hot in game two as they scored four runs in the first, six in the second and another four in the third. Ripken went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Katie Halter had three RBI.

 

Allyson Parris allowed just one hit in 5.0 innings and struck out four.

 

Neumann (16-8, 14-0 CSAC) will host Cabrini on Friday in conference action.
