BOYERTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Gwynedd-Mercy College, 14-8, in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament on Friday evening.

Will Flores went 4-for-5 with five RBI. Bill Pace and Joey Armata each had three hits. Matt Sheneman knocked in three runs.

Trailing 6-3, Neumann used a seven run fifth inning to take a 10-6 lead. The first six Knights reached base to start the inning. Sheneman and hit a two-run single to knock in Tyler Drinkard and Pace. Flores had a two-run triple to score Dave Kalash and Kelvin Ortiz.

Flores had a two-run doubles in the second inning for the Knights second and third runs of the game. Neumann added two more runs in the seventh and eighth inning for its 14 runs.

Kevin Joo started the game and went 2.1 innings for the no decision. Kristian Deluzio picked up the win, going 2.2 innings in relief. Russ Gilliam had a 4.0 inning save while striking out six.

Neumann (28-11) will face Keystone College tomorrow morning at 11 AM as the CSAC postseason continues.
