Women's Hockey Falls Short to Bears

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's hockey team fell to SUNY-Potsdam 4-3 on Saturday evening in ECAC West action.

Potsdam netted the first two goals of the game in the first seven minutes. Shanelle Doucette put the Knights on the board at the 7:58 mark. Danica Delry tallied the assist. Megan Russelo tied the game at two with 4:50 left in the first period. Angela Gilmour and Grace Kleinbach drew the assists.

The Bears scored two more goals in the second period to take a 4-2 lead after 40 minute of play. The eventual game-winning goal came with one minute left before the second intermission.

With time starting to run out in the third period, Lindsey Spatola found the back of the net for a 4-3 game with 1:46 left in regulation. Meghan Power and Russelo notched the assists. The Knights pulled their goalie, but could not get the puck to cross the line for the tying goal.

Julia Fair started the game and made 11 saves in 22 minutes of action. Justina Mayr made 16 saves in net in relief.

Neumann (3-10, 1-6 ECAC West) and Potsdam (7-6-2, 3-3-2 ECAC West) will meet again tomorrow afternoon. The ECAC West game will get underway at 2:00 PM.
