GENEVA, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey picked up its first win of the season and gave Head Coach Gina Kearns her first college coaching win with a 2-1 win at William Smith College on Sunday afternoon in ECAC West action.

Megan Russelo scored both goals for the Knights. Chelsea Polidoro started her first collegiate game and picked up her first collegiate win, making 29 saves.

Russelo scored her first goal 13:36 into the first period, for the only tally of the first 20 minutes. Grace Klienbach and Kelly Fox picked up the helpers.

The Heron tied the game 11:16 into the second period. Russelo then netter her second goal of the game with 3:25 left in the second. Donna Williams handed out the assist.

William Smith had its chances in the third period to tie the game, but it couldn't get another puck past Polidoro. The Knights doubled the Herons in shots on goal 60-30.

"I am so proud of the poise and determination we showed in this game. From start to finish, they were relentless. Their hard work earned this victory," said Kearns.

Neumann (1-7, 1-5 ECAC West) will host Manhattanville on Tuesday in non-conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
