UTICA, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team was defeated by Utica College 5-1 on Sunday afternoon in ECAC West action.
Utica scored two goals in a minute span as the first period was coming to an end to take a 2-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. The Pioneers added a power play goal in the second period, for a 3-0 advantage after two.
Edie Brenning put the Knights on the board 23 seconds in to the third period. Meghan Power drew the assist. The Pioneers would find the back of the net two more time, both coming on the power play, to round out the third period and take away the 5-1 win.
Justina Mayr made 27 saves in net.
Neumann (5-14-1, 2-9-1 ECAC West) hosts SUNY-Canton on Tuesday in a rescheduled game from last week. The non-conference contest gets underway at 7:00 PM.
