Baseball Can't Get Past Scarlet Raiders

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped a 6-2 decision at Rutgers University – Camden on Tuesday afternoon.

Buddy Elgin, Matt Sheneman and Trevor Wilkins each had two hits for Neumann. Kristian DeLuzio started the game and went 4.2 innings. He allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out six in the loss. Zach Youngberg pitched 1.1 innings. Lorenzo Williams, Ted Fletcher and Alex Summers all pitched to finish out the game.

The Scarlet Raiders scored first and took a 1-0 lead after two innings.

The Knights scored their two runs in the fourth inning. Wilkins hit an RBI single to bring home Kevin Case. AJ Koscelansky followed with a sacrifice fly to score Elgin, for a 2-1 Neumann lead.

Rutgers-Camden plated three runs in the fifth inning to take back the lead, 4-2. The Scarlet Raiders added an insurance run in the sixth and seventh inning for the 6-2 final.


Neumann (3-7) is slated to open conference action this weekend with its series against Marywood.
