ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team open Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action with an 11-4 win against Immaculata on Saturday afternoon.
Kye Williams hit a homerun for the Knights en route to three hits, two runs scored and two RBI. Cam Stimpson and Buddy Elgin each scored three runs. Stimpson also hit a homerun.
Kristian DeLuzio started the game and went 7.0 innings for the win. He allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out six. Jerome Cevetello and Alex Summers each pitched an inning in the win.
The Knights took advantage of an error in the bottom of the first inning plate four unearned runs. The bats kept going in the second for three more runs. Elgin hit a two-run single as the Knights held a 7-1 lead after two innings.
Williams hit his solo shot in the fifth inning for an 8-1 Knights lead. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Stimpson hit his long ball, a two-run shot. Neumann added another run in the inning as Matt Sheneman knocked in Elgin.
Summers took care of the Mighty Macs in the top of the ninth, striking out two, for the 11-4 win.
Neumann (4-7, 1-0 CSAC) and Immaculata (5-5, 1-0 CSAC) will play in a doubleheader tomorrow. Action gets underway at 12:00 PM.
