Wilkie Pitches No-Hitter as Knights Sweep Defenders

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team completed Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) sweep of Baptist Bible College on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 8-0 and 15-0, both in five innings.

In game one, the Knights opened with two runs in the first, one coming as a result of a Defenders error. Going into the fifth inning, Neumann held a 5-0 lead. The Knights were able to score three runs, capped by a two-run single by Mary Cotton to end the game.

Lauren Wilkie pitched a no-hitter, going 5.0 innings and striking out seven and walking just one.

In game two, Neumann scored three unearned runs in the first inning to start the game. After scoring three more runs in the second, two being unearned, Neumann batted around plus four in the third and scored eight runs. Megan Williams had a triple and a two-run single in the inning.

Haley Broomell started the game and picked up the win. She allowed three hits and struck out three. Kristin Beaty and Allyson Parris went the fourth and fifth innings to complete the shutout.

Neumann (18-6, 14-2 CSAC) will travel to Misericordia on Tuesday afternoon for non-conference action beginning at 3:00 PM.
