LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team was finally able to open Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action with a doubleheader at Cairn University on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights took both games, 11-0, 9-0.
In the first game, Neumann won 11-0 in five innings. Danielle Grayson had three hits and knocked in five runs. Megan Williams had four hits.
The Knights opened the game with three straight walks. Grayson then hit a bases-clearing double for a 3-0 lead. Neumann then plated seven runs in the second inning while it sent 12 players to the plate. Katie Halter hit a two-run single in the inning.
Lauren Wilkie went the distance in the circle. She allowed four hits and struck out four in the shutout.
In game two, the Knights complete the sweep by a 9-0 score. Halter had four hits and scored three runs. Allie White hit a two-run triple in the second inning. Grayson capped the scoring in the seventh inning with a two-run double.
Kristin Beaty picked up the win, going six innings. She allowed just two hits and struck out five. Melissa Rozumalski pitched a scoreless, hitless seventh inning.
Neumann (6-4, 2-0 CSAC) will host Notre Dame on Friday afternoon in conference action beginning at 3:00 PM.
