ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team fell to Moravian College 13-8 on Tuesday afternoon, just before the storms rolled in.
Buddy Elgin had four hits, including a homerun, knocked in three runs and scored three runs. Kevin Case had three hits and scored two runs. Patrick Graham started the game and went 4.0 innings. He allowed six runs on eight hits. Jalen Burks went 1.1 innings and took the loss. He allowed three runs, all unearned, on three hits. Lorenzo Williams went 1.2 innings and Alex Summers pitched the final 2.0 innings.
The Greyhounds put four runs on the board in the first inning to jump out to a 4-0 lead. The Knights were able to score three runs in the third inning. AJ Koscelansky hit a two-run triple in the inning.
In the fourth inning, Neumann capitalized on some Moravian miscues and took a 6-4 lead. The Greyhounds knotted the game at six with two runs in the top of the fifth.
Moravian took a 9-6 lead with three runs in the sixth inning. Elgin hit a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth for one of two runs for the Knights and a 9-8 game after six.
The Greyhounds would be the only ones to score in the final three innings, plating three in the eighth and one in the ninth, for the 13-8 win.
Neumann (13-15) will travel to Wesley College tomorrow afternoon for a single non-conference game. Action gets underway at 4:00 PM.
